Thank you

November 2, 2010

My message to you is quite simply:  Thank you.

Without you, Arkansas would not have made substantial progress during the worst economy in the last 70 years.

Without you, we would not have passed the largest tax cut in our state’s history.

Without you, we would not have improved our education rankings to levels no one thought possible.

Without you, we would not be poised to make even greater progress when the national economy improves.

Most important, without you, I certainly would not have been able to take the stage at our Election Night Watch Party a few moments ago and give my first speech as our next Governor. No one can end up where I stood tonight, starting from where I began my life, and not recognize this simple fact:  none of it would have been possible without the incredible effort of others.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Celebrate our victories, but remember that for everyone who won, someone else is on the other side.  At the end of the day, we are one state, and we need everyone working for our common goals. We need every person in this state pushing in the same direction if we want to realize the incredible potential we have.

The key word is “work.”  We have a lot of work to do.  The voters have sent some very clear messages tonight – in Arkansas and across the country.  They expect us to work, and we will.

Celebrate tonight.  Tomorrow, we’ve got a lot of work to do.

Sincerely,

Mike Beebe
